Gym sessions in the same app as your swim sessions
MakoStrength is the strength and conditioning part of MakoSwim. You write the gym sessions and programs, and your swimmers log their sets on their phones.

Exercise clips
Exercises from Mako’s library come with short animated clips like these. A swimmer taps the picture next to an exercise to watch it, with the coaching cues underneath.
Plan the gym around the pool
When the gym program is on a spreadsheet, it’s easy to end up with a heavy leg session the afternoon before a race-pace swim. With both in MakoSwim, the swim coach and the strength coach are looking at the same week.
Circuits in the swim workout
If the swimmers do a circuit before they get in, import it from MakoStrength into the swim workout. It shows up as a dryland set with an estimated time and doesn’t count toward swim volume.

Land load next to pool load
The Load tab shows each week’s land load beside its pool load. We keep them as two numbers, because a heavy gym session and a hard main set don’t tire a swimmer in the same way.

What your strength coach gets
Programs are built week by week, deloads included, and go onto a team’s calendar in one go. Below is every Tuesday of a 14-week block side by side, so you can see each exercise build and then drop back in the deload week.

Sessions and circuits
Set the load as a percentage of max, a weight, reps in reserve or RPE.
Exercises
Start with Mako’s library and add your own, with your cues and a YouTube link.
Test day
Record a 5-rep max for the whole group and put the board up on the gym TV.
One swimmer’s version
Lena’s shoulder is sore, so she does push-ups instead of bench press. Nobody else’s session changes.
Tablet logging
For swimmers who don’t have a phone.
Swimmers log it on their phones
Set a lift at 75% of max and each swimmer sees the weight worked out from their own max, with what they did last time right under it. The rest timer starts when they tick a set. If there’s no signal in the gym, the sets are kept on the phone until it can send them.
Ask MAKO AI for the next block
Tell it what you want the way you’d tell an assistant coach: “Six weeks for Bronze, lower body on Mondays, upper body on Thursdays, up 2.5% a week.” It writes the program from your own exercise library.

Questions
- Does MakoStrength cost extra?
- No, it’s part of every MakoSwim plan.
- Can our strength coach have their own login?
- Yes. Invite them as a coach and add them to the teams they program for.
- Does gym work count toward swim volume?
- Swim volume only counts swimming. Gym work shows up as land load instead.
- Does it work for age-group swimmers?
- Under-15s rate each set from 0 to 10, with words like Easy and Hard next to the numbers, so they aren’t guessing reps in reserve.
